Who can apply for this visa?

This visa is for productive, innovative, or research activities aimed at adopting or adapting technologies that complement or develop products, processes, or services that contribute to strengthening the country’s competitiveness.

Also for activities that contribute to incorporating knowledge into the priorities of national, regional, and territorial development plans; or for activities or professions pre-established by the Directorate of Migration Affairs, Consular Affairs, and Citizen Services, which contribute to the internationalization of the country.


Benefits and Restrictions

Up to two years validity

This Visa allows you to live in Colombia for up to two (2) years. It also allows you to get a foreign ID card (CĂ©dula de extranjerĂ­a).

This visa admits beneficiaries

With this visa you will be able to bring your family with you as beneficiaries. That is, you can bring your spouse and/or children to live with you, once the main visa is approved.

No work permit

Please notice that this type of visa does not allow you to work in Colombia for Colombian companies, since it doesn’t have a work permit.

No time accrue towards residency

Since it is a visitor-type (V) visa, this won’t allow you to add time in order to apply for a residency or (R) visa.

In order to apply for this visa, the foreigner must meet the professional profile established by the Directorate of Migration Affairs, Consular Affairs, and Citizen Services, in accordance with the recommendations of the Internationalization Mission.
