For foreigners who, having been Colombian citizens by birth or adoption, renounced their Colombian nationality.

Benefits and restrictions

Five years validity - renewable

This visa allows you to live and work in Colombia for up to five years.

The holder of the Permanent Resident Visa (R) must apply for the transfer of their visa before its expiration. This procedure must be carried out through the digital platform provided for this purpose on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs https://www.cancilleria.gov.co/tramites_servicios/visa.

This visa admits beneficiaries

With this visa you will be able to bring your family with you as beneficiaries.

Open work permit

This visa allows you to work in Colombia for any company or institution.

Requirements

1.Nationality Renounce Certificate

Provide a copy of the document confirming your renunciation of Colombian nationality.

2. Proof of Lost Nationality

If you lost Colombian nationality due to Article 9 of the 1886 Constitution, present either your naturalization letter from another country or a document proving you acquired another nationality before 1991.

3. Visa Request Letter

Write a letter applying for the Permanent Resident Visa (R). Explain your financial means in the foreign country that will support your stay in Colombia.
